Wow. It's been a long time, but we're back with a good one. This week, double features presents a heartwarming tale about redemption, family and da phattest party on the block! Kid N' Play join Kevin Kline, Kristen Scott Thomas and the late Robin Harris in this star-studded motion picture event. Christopher's father learns that he has terminal cancer. His last order of business before dying is to build a house with his ne'er-do-well son and then throw the slamminest, jamminest house party of the century. What a way to go! Chrstopher (Kid) and his friend, Peter (Play) make sure that his Pops goes out in style. Co-starring Tischa Campbell-Martin (Rita Rocks) and Martin Lawrence (Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins).

"Celtic Pride and Prejudice"

Sorry gang, it's been a while, but Double Features is back. Today's program is topical, celebrating Boston's win of the NBA Finals. While I'm sad our Lakers lost, these films gave me a better appreciation of the bleeding passion held by Boston fans. Going back in time to kidnap Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth), Celtic fans Mike O'Hara (Daniel Stern) and Jimmy Flaherty (Dan Aykroyd) stack the odds in their team's favor. Now, the Utah Jazz are without their star player and the Bennet family will certainly fall into abject penury. But, with a story by comedy vets Judd Apatow (Knocked Up), Colin Quinn (Remote Control) and Jane Austen (Jane Austen's Mafia), this "bean-town" classic is sure to score some laughs FROM DOWNTOWWWN!!!

"The Little Vampire in Brooklyn"

We here at Double Features are trying a little 'before and after' a la Jeopardy (not a la Meryl Streep, Liam Neeson and Edward Furlong). So the titles of our Double Features will blend seamlessly into each other creating a unique poster experience.

Tonight's first Before and After Double Feature is the Jonathan Lipnicki, Eddie Murphy Classic, The Little Vampire in Brooklyn. Wes Craven directs from a story by Murphy and Lipnicki.

Good to Know: Little Vampire director, Uli Edel also helmed Madonna's finger-lickin' performance in Body of Evidence. I can see why New Line Cinema considered him a no-brainer for Lipnicki's first and only top-billed feature.

Unfortunately, Anglea Bassett's stuntwoman, Sonja Davis, suffered an injury on the Brooklyn set and like Lipnicki's career, she eventually died.

"Joe Somebody" vs. "Redbelt"

Tim Allen kicks ass, literally, in Joe Somebody (2001) and its 2008 remake, Redbelt. In both films, Allen is humiliated and turns to violence to solve his problems. The decidedly darker, Redbelt, substitutes Golden Globe Nominee Chiwetel Ejietophergrace for TV Guide Award Nominee Jim Belushi (just one of director David Mamet's mistakes). But, it's up to you the viewer to choose your favorite Allen sparring flick. Follow the links below to add to your Netflix queue.

Fun Fact: During the shooting of Joe Somebody Tim Allen was watching dailies and exclaimed, "It's amazing. He's just like his brother but without the funny." Jim Belushi heard this comment and refused to speak with Allen for the duration of the shoot. It's true!
